About Us

Our work

The Primary Care Research Network East Midlands and South Yorkshire (PCRN EMSY) aims to improve the speed, quality and integration of research in primary care, ultimately resulting in improvements in prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care for patients.

The PCRN facilitates the development and conduct of clinical trials by:

  • Co-ordinating focused, effective investment in NHS research infrastructure to ensure that  quality research, funded by both commercial and non-commercial organisations, receives the support to succeed
  • Promoting collaboration between patients, carers, researchers, clinicians, academics, NHS Trusts, funders and industry to enhance sharing of resources and expertise
  • Building on the strengths already present in the UK as well as increasing general capacity in the field of primary care

The PCRN is funded by the National Institute for Health Research as part of its Clinical Research Network (NIHR CRN).

  • To ensure effective delivery of clinical and other well-designed research studies in primary care
  • To widen and develop primary care professional involvement in research together with public involvement
  • To work strategically with Primary Care Trusts, primary care providers and independent contractors to deliver relevant research
