Studies A-Z > H > Hope 3
This international study is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and AstraZeneca (Canada).
The study aims to identify safe and effective cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention strategies that could substantially reduce the risk of CVD in large proportions of the adult population. HOPE 3 will evaluate the effects of lipid modification with Rosuvastatin and of blood pressure lowering with Candesartan/hydrochlorothiazide and their combination in a wide range of middle-aged people, who are at moderate risk for vascular events.
The trial will enrol individuals who, in the judgement of their GP, do not have a clear indication or contraindication to lipid lowering or blood pressure lowering with any of the study drugs. To exclude patients with a very low risk, eligible patients should have at least one additional cardiovascular risk factor.
