National General Practice of Epilepsy and Epileptic Seizures

The National General Practice Study of Epilepsy is a community-based observational study that started in the 1980s. This important study followed people with a possible new diagnosis of a seizure disorder, and many influential papers have been published as a result of this study. Patients were originally enrolled in the NGPSE and we now wish to ascertain the 20-year outcome in relation to seizures.

The research team is based at University College London, and they have already contacted the practices that have the original research subjects in their patient list. It is hoped that the information obtained in this stage of the study will lead to a better understanding of the long-term outcomes for people with epilepsy.
