This study is funded by the NIHR Research for Patient Benefit grant.
The aim of the study is to test the effectiveness of a self-management manual in primary care. There are self management strategies for many long term conditions but not for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The manual has been developed over the last 24 months and its main focus is on symptom management and physical activity. Following assessment at Glenfield Hospital patients will be randomised to either the manual or standard care.
